Interactive seminar on Fast development of analytical method: LET’S FIND THE BEST SOLUTION TOGETHER
(chaired by Tomas CAJKA, ICT Prague, CZ & Katerina MASTOVSKA – Covance Laboratories, Greenfied USA & Hans MOL, RIKILT Wageningen, NL)

Tomas Cajka is an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry and Analysis and analyst at the Department of Food Chemistry and Analysis of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague (Prof. Hajslova’s group).
His main research area focuses on development and application of mass spectrometric fingerprinting and profiling techniques for food quality and authenticity assessment and development of analytical methods for the analysis of food and environmental contaminants.
He also focuses on the application of various chemometric tools for data interpretation.
He has published 27 journal papers, 6 book chapters, and 19 papers in conference proceedings.
In 2007, he was awarded by The Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society for The Young Authors’ Best Paper in Spectroscopy (Gas Chromatography–Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry: An Effective Analytical Tool in the Analysis of Complex Food and Environmental Matrices).

Dr. Katerina Mastovska is a Senior Technical Manager in the Covance Food Contaminant Center of Excellence in Greenfield, IN, USA, where she is responsible for development of new analytical methods for testing of chemical residues and contaminants in food and dietary supplements. She is actively involved in the AOAC International as the incoming co-chair of the AOAC Chemical Contaminants and Residues in Food community, Topic Advisor for the veterinary drug residue methods, and a co-study director for a collaborative study of a method for the analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in seafood. Prior joining Covance Laboratories, she worked at the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and served as an expert in the United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) panel of the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR), recommending world-wide maximum residue levels for pesticides in food and feed commodities. Dr. Mastovska has authored/co-authored 50 scientific publications (journal articles, book chapters, and monographs) and over 100 presentations at national and international meetings. She received her Ph.D. in Food Chemistry and Analysis from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czech Republic.

Hans Mol (1966) studied analytical chemistry at the Free University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 1995 he finished his PhD in instrumental analysis at the Technical University in Eindhoven. Then he joined TNO (Dutch Organisation for Applied Scientific Research) where he was responsible for pesticide residue analysis in food and environment conducted for food and agrochemical industry. Since 2006 he is senior scientist and team leader of the section Natural Toxins and Pesticides at RIKILT - Institute of food safety, Wageningen, Netherlands. There he is involved in method development and residue and contaminant analysis in food and feed in the frame of EU and Dutch monitoring and enforcement programs, EU research projects, and as National Reference Laboratory.
